Of course, nothing is a must! We do recommend a maintenance dose of 2 grams (4 capsules) per day as a supplement to a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.

The capsules are made of HPMC (hypromellose). This is a polysaccharide (carbohydrate) extracted from plants and wood. This is, incidentally, the most common way to make plant-based/vegan capsules. HPMC is known for being easily digestible.

As far as we know, our algae are free of allergens.

However, the product may contain traces of fish, shellfish, and crustaceans. This is because the algae mix contains two types of seaweed.

Plankton is safe for children. For children up to 10 years, however, we recommend 2 capsules per day. This is partly due to the high iodine content.

For pregnant women and/or during breastfeeding, we recommend that you first discuss this with your doctor, as there is insufficient research into the use of algae during these periods.

The recommended dose of Plankton (2 grams, 4 capsules) contains approximately 60% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of iodine. This may be a concern for people with thyroid disorders.

To limit iodine intake, it may be advisable to skip plankton or reduce the dosage to 1 gram per day (2 capsules). We always recommend consulting your doctor first to make the best choice for your health.
