Let’s talk sh*t: plnktn x The Good Roll invite the Netherlands to talk about gut health

Gut Health on the social agenda

plnktn and The Good Roll are calling on the Netherlands to stop avoiding the conversation about gut health. Together with gut specialist Marjolein Randwijk, the two brands are drawing attention to a topic that is still often considered taboo. By developing a mini-guide for the toilet, plnktn and The Good Roll are helping people better understand their bowel movements.

Algae brand plnktn is a pioneer in offering algae-based supplements. plnktn is continuously looking for innovative ways to make the Netherlands healthier. Gut health says a lot about overall health, but talking about pooping is still a taboo. Therefore, a collaboration with The Good Roll was sought to share more about this topic in a light-hearted way.

Your gut as a second brain

Gijs Dröge, co-founder of plnktn: "A large proportion of Dutch people suffer from intestinal problems. We also see this reflected in plankton's figures. For example, 63.9% of plnktn users take algae supplements daily to support gut health.* Your gut plays an important role in your health. It is sometimes said that they act as a second brain and steer decisions.

'Gut Health' is an important theme for us and something we want to draw more attention to. Together with gut specialist Marjolein van Randwijk, we have translated the Bristol Stool Chart, a medical tool for classifying different forms of stool, into a mini-guide in the form of a door hanger for, yes, the toilet. With this guide, people can check their stool after a toilet visit. We share tips for each variant. For example, algae and seaweed contain nutrients that can contribute to a well-nourished gut microbiome."

Good bowel movements require good toilet paper

The Good Roll, known for their cheerful wrappers, makes 100% sustainable bamboo toilet paper, free from chlorine, fragrance, dyes and other unnecessary substances. Good for the environment, good for your bottom and also with a mission: clean and safe toilets for everyone. Billions of people worldwide suffer from poor sanitation, which causes many health problems. That's why The Good Roll donates 50% of its net profit to the construction of toilets where they are most needed.

Melle Schellekens, founder of The Good Roll: "Healthy guts and a healthy planet go hand in hand, which is why we are very enthusiastic about our common goal. A healthy digestion generally means fewer toilet visits and therefore less unnecessary paper usage. Fewer sheets, more impact!"

The mini-guide will be distributed throughout February via subscriptions to The Good Roll and plnktn. In addition, a white paper will be published in collaboration with microbiome dietitian Marjolein van Randwijk for more in-depth information about Gut Health.
